2008 SUMMER SCHEDULE

Advanced Yoga Studies: Creating a monastic refuge in the forest
with Lex Gillan
June 1-6, **875
(**see note)

Of all the venues I have used over the years, Rose Mountain is the most sacred of spaces--it offers a true forest monastic refuge. This advanced Yoga Studies course will give us an opportunity to come together as a group of fellow teachers and yogis in this spectacular mountain venue.
We will deepen our practices of hatha yoga, sitting meditation (creating our own monastery as we 'take the one seat'), hiking (allowing the mountain to be our teacher), and of course engage the Noble Silence each evening.
We will meet daily to create a vision for the future (how is it going so far, and where are we headed with all of this?) And we'll discuss ways to improve our teaching methodology and administration--ways to work smarter.

LEX GILLAN has been a practitioner of yoga and meditation for nearly 40 years.
He has studied with world-class teachers including Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Rame Dass, Stephen Levine, Father Thomas Keating, and Dr.James Ezelle since the 1960's. Lex has been a full-time instructor since 1974 when he founded The Yoga Institute in Houston, one of the oldest yoga studio businesses in the country. He also teaches the Yoga Teacher Training and National Certification Course (Yoga ALLIANCE approved to 500 hours), is a trustee of Rose Mountain Retreat Center, and is on the faculty and is the Director of Development at The Institute for Religion and Health in the Texas Medical Center in Houston.
